#EasterMarch2026: Pastor Tilmann Kuhn (St. Marien Strausberg) – "Every Human Being Has Dignity"
Pastor Tilmann Kuhn of the Protestant parish of St. Marien in Strausberg opened the Easter March 2026 with a short but profound reflection. In original sound – with German and English subtitles.
Human Dignity as the Foundation of Peace
"Ladies and gentlemen, it is an honour for me to be able to speak to you briefly today. For I see that you are all exercising your dignity. That is something crucial for us as Christians, as a pastor in the Protestant Church. Every human being has dignity. This dignity must be granted to them."
Kuhn stressed that the demonstrators are not only standing up for their own dignity: "Today, I believe, we are all standing up for the dignity of the soldiers in the trenches in the Ukraine war – on both the Russian side and the Ukrainian side. We stand up for the dignity of the Palestinians, but also for the dignity of the inhabitants of Israel."
He called for opposing views to be "settled verbaliter (by word)" and to "keep peace for the sake of the dignity of the other".
Salt of the Earth, Light of the World
The pastor concluded with an image from the Sermon on the Mount: "In this way we are also a little salt of the earth and light of the world. That is what our Lord Jesus gave us to take with us on our way. I hope that this salt does not lose its saltiness and that this light does not blind the eyes."
He wished everyone "much courage also for the further efforts" and was glad "that today we are all here together to open this little Easter March story".
