🇬🇧 #EasterMarch2026: Joachim Zappe (Rotfuchs) – The USA as the Greatest Threat to World Peace

Joachim Zappe of the party-independent association Rotfuchs (monthly magazine and events) gave a fact-filled speech on the history of US war policy since 1945. The original sound is accompanied by German and English subtitles.

An Accounting of US Wars Since 1945

"If you want to shape the future, you must know what happened in the past. Today I am going back to 1945."

Zappe recalled that Great Britain transferred the last instalments of its war debts from the Second World War to the USA up until 2006. Since then, Zappe argued, "the US government has become the greatest threat to world peace".

He cited concrete figures: "The USA is responsible for more than 25 million deaths since 1945 in 37 years through the wars it has waged, military coups and intelligence operations. Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan are the greatest crimes."

"In the 240-year history of the USA, only 16 years were not affected by war. The USA was responsible for about 80 percent of all armed conflicts after the Second World War."

Military Bases, Coups and Assassinations

Zappe listed further facts: "The USA has tried to overthrow more than 50 foreign governments, directly interfered in the elections of more than 30 foreign countries and attempted to assassinate over 50 foreign leaders."

He mentioned the current example of the abduction of Venezuelan President Maduro to the USA. Worldwide there are about 1,000 foreign military bases – "of which 800 were established and occupied by the USA in 80 countries. Russia has nine military bases, China a single one in Africa."

Military Spending and the Unipolar World Order

"The USA currently spends 980 billion dollars on armaments. The US military budget accounts for 40 percent of the total global budget. The world currently spends 2.63 trillion dollars on armaments. These figures speak for themselves."

Zappe saw this as an attempt to halt the transition from a unipolar to a multipolar world by all means: "As long as the striving for supremacy in the war-mongering circles of the USA persists, the rest of the world is hardly suited for peace. This makes our peace march today more justified and necessary than ever."
